Yellow Perch (Food for Everyone)

Yellow Perch.

A torpedo shaped fish similar to that of a walleye, yellow perch feature bands of yellow and green and seldom get larger than 3 or 4 pounds.  Yellow perch grow slowly and many end up as food for walleye and pike. Not to mention humans who find them very tasty too.

Perch are primarily lake fish and favor cool water with sand and rocky bottoms. Although they can be found in rivers that flow into lakes.  Perch form schools to find protection from predictors, because of this they are fast action for anglers. When you are on a school of perch  you do not have to wait long to catch one after another. Yellow perch can be caught year round.
