Horizontal Lip Holding of Bass Fish

Do you know that there is a right way and a wrong way to lip hold a bass. Well the above diagram shows the right way and the wrong way. If you are not harvesting your catch you may want to read this carefully.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when lip holding a bass is that allow the body of the fish to hang at an angle of more than 10 degrees. This is referred to as the injury zone. A non harvested fish released after being handled in this matter will more than likely end up dead. Why, because the lower jaw will more than likely be dislocated and the fish will not be able to feed and will eventually starve to death.

So, either hold the body horizontally with both hands or  hang vertically.
